Step 1. Depending on the image, I either project and trace it or draw free hand onto the wall with a charcoal pencil. I then outline the pencil in burnt umber paint and wash off any excess charcoal.
Step 2. For this mural I began by painting the scenery looking out of the window first.
Step 3. The mural begins to take shape as I start to paint in the foreground. I've added a few more details into the landscape. I underpainted the curtain with black and white paint, and then glaze it with color giving it a luminous feel different from the rest of the painting. The wall was also faux finished to give it depth and texture.
Step 4. Sit back and enjoy your new space!
Step 1. We'll set up a time that we can meet and discuss what you would like to have painted. We'll discuss your ideas and inspirations, and talk about what you hope to accomplish by adding a mural, whether it's to create a focal point, add color and interest, create a certain ambiance etc.
Step 2. I will take everything that we talked about, everything that I was able to garner from my time with you in your home, and draw you a proposal. The proposal is always to scale, for this mural it stretched all the way behind the dryer but my client asked that I crop it and have it extend on the other side of the washer and dryer.
Step 3. I begin painting following the steps outlined in "The Painting Process" slide show.
